Lipstick Lovin’ – Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick, Maybelline Moisture Extreme SPF 15 Lipstick & Ulta 3 Lipstick
Hi everyone,
As someone who was late to jump on the lipstick bandwagon, I’m now slowly accumulating a nice collection. As such, today’s post is all about lipsticks! I’ve chosen 3 lipsticks from my collection that I think would each suit a different occasion.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick – Crystal Baby Creme – This Estee Lauder lipstick is a beautiful soft, almost tinted balm like lipstick. It’s in a beautiful pinky nude shade that is perfect for everyday. Whether it’s going to work, uni or just popping over to the shops, this is a great daytime lipstick as it not only gives a nice natural almost enhancing of your natural lip colour but also moisturizes the lips at the same time. This is the perfect creme lipstick as it is not thick at all when applied. I find this lipstick very comfortable to wear as there’s no feeling of wearing anything on your lips because it is so lightweight. As such, there’s no urge to lick your lips or rub them against each other. The lipstick has a pleasant fruit like smell. It may be fig, if I’m correct. It applies so easily because it is creamy and gives just the right amount of shine to the lips. It has a light to medium pigmentation and can last for hours without the need to reapply. However, it is very soft and just from carrying it around in my handbag, it has broken and been dented, however, I’m still able to use it.
Maybelline Moisture Extreme SPF 15 – D160 Cool Watermelon – My choice for a weekend lip would be this Maybelline lipstick in the shade Cool Watermelon. It’s an amazing shade to wear to a small casual party during the week or the weekend without looking too made up. It’s an eye popping bold pink watermelon colour that may scare many but trust me, it looks amazing. It will instantly add some drama and a pop of colour to the face, perfect if you’re going for minimal makeup and a simple eye as these lips will definitely be the centre of attention. Application is both smooth and moisturising and it has even has a watermelon scent. I’m able to wear this lipstick for about 3-4 hours before needing to reapply if I am eating and drinking.
Ulta 3 Lipstick – 046 Prom Night – If you’re looking for that Hollywood, red carpet moment, then this is the lipstick for you! I actually wore this to my Year 12 Formal. As I had my makeup professionally done, I needed a lipstick to use to touchup throughout the night and I quickly purchased this at a nearby chemist for no more than $3 I believe. While this isn’t the bright red lip we’re accustomed to seeing on the celebrities, this slightly darker red lip shade is perfect for a night out, a big function or event. I wore this lipstick for 10 hours that afternoon/night and only needed to reapply once! Even after eating and drinking, this lipstick stayed put. It wasn’t drying and didn’t bleed into the surrounding foundation. It made my lips feel smooth and gave a small amount of shine. The pigmentation of this lipstick is very good.
So there you have it, my picks for what lipsticks to wear to a wide range of occasions. As I build up my lipstick collection, I’ll be sure to share with you all my new finds and future picks.

I prefer to wear pink shades every day and only wear red when I want to feel glamorous – strange but true! That Maybelline lipstick looks gorgeous, love that colour! 🙂 Great blog

Hi Billi,
Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by! I usually tend to stick with nudes and subtle pinks unless I attend a big event and it’s true – red lipstick does make you feel more glamourous for some reason!

I’m really liking the Maybeliine lipstick, the swatch is really pretty!
I love wearing statement lips and have only started wearing them close to the end of last year with casual outfits. I don’t think you need a special occasion to wear a lipstick, I just use whatever I feel like wearing!
My favourite lipsticks right now are MAC’s Ruby Woo and Rebel. I usually opt for MAC lipsticks or the Rimmel Kate range since you can get them quite cheap at Priceline! They have amazing pigmentation, are moisturising and smell nice. I highly recommend them if you’re building your collection!

Thanks, it really is a beautiful colour!
I’m still not that adventurous when it comes to lipsticks so I tend to stick to nudes and soft pinks unless I’m going out but I’m sure as my lipstick collection expands, I’ll be wearing bolder colours.
Thank you for the suggestions! I know that Ruby Woo and Rebel are some of the top selling lipstick shades at MAC so they must be so popular for a reason. I’ve seen some really beautiful shades in the Kate Moss range for Rimmel so i’ll definitely go and take another look at them per your suggestion!

That Crystal Baby lipstick is such a gorgeous color. I would definitely wear that at work and out and about. I’m still trying to ease in to the wearing red lip colors haha.

It really is. It isnt too sheer but it does still stand out on your lips. I’m usually one to stick to shades similar to the Estee Lauder Lipstick and only wear a ‘wow’ colour like red when I go to a big party!

Oh I loved this post, really interesting!
I’m in love with all the shades you chose.
I usually go for neutral shades for my everyday makeup but I absolutely love reds for a night out!
