The Gloss Bar – Petal Lipgloss – Review

Hi everyone,

One of the major beauty trends we saw on the Emmy Awards red carpet earlier this week was that many stars opted for fresh, glowing skin accompanied by a beautiful pink lip. A subtle pink shade of lipstick or lip gloss can suit many different skin tones and matches well with a number of makeup looks, ranging from smoky eyes to glowing skin.

I have been wearing The Gloss Bar’s Petal lip gloss for a few weeks now and it is quite a similar shade to those that the stars sported at the Emmy Awards.

This best seller candy pink shade gives you a shot of high impact creamy shine with a stay put application. The formula is slightly viscous, therefore long lasting as well as being fragrance and paraben free with added Vitamin E.

Petal is a beautiful candy pink shade with a cream finish that when applied to the lips, is a pretty pink colour. When applied with the doe foot applicator wand, this lip gloss glides smoothly onto the lips with no clumping or build-up and spreads evenly. You’re also able to build up the intensity of colour by adding another layer of the lip gloss (this will be demonstrated by the images below). This product has a slight sweet scent that is not overpowering at all, nor does it have an artificial smell.

What I love about this lip gloss is that slightly tacky formula actually sinks into the lips, unlike many other lip glosses that have a tendency to ‘sit’ on top of the lips and then become very sticky and slippery. It sinks into the lips, leaving them feeling plump and moisturised and the formula stays put. Petal contains no shimmer what so ever but what it does have is amazing shine. Although the intensity of the colour does dull down after 2 to 3 hours, Petal still leaves your lips with a beautiful soft colour and shiny, glossy lips and so when you choose to reapply is up to you. On my lips, Petal is able to last very well for at least 3 hours.

Below are images and swatches of Petal in different lighting and opacities.

As you can see, Petal is a very versatile lip gloss that can transform from a day to night look, which I love. You’re able to customise the way in which you wear it to suit your tastes! No wonder it’s a best seller!

You can purchase Petal, as well as many other lip gloss shades from The Gloss Bar’s website for $31.00.

  1. That looks pretty! Although $31 seems like a lot for a lip gloss. Or is that normal for glosses in Australia? You did say cosmetics are more expensive there.

    • It is, I adore the colour. It’s actually a really reasonable price here! Lip glosses from Bourjois are $22.00 here while a MAC Pro Long Wear Lip Glass is $43.00!!!! It is ridiculously expensive here in Aus to buy big intl brands! Considering it’s only available online and from The Gloss Bar, its actually a great price 🙂
