Indeed Laboratories’ Hydraluron – Review
Today I’ll be reviewing the much talked about Hydraluron by Indeed Laboratories. This product really came into the spotlight this year after many rave reviews in the online community.
Hydraluron is an all over facial hydration serum that was created to boost hydration levels within the skin. From this reinforcement of hydration, skin structure is said to improve; skin is said to look plumper and more elastic while any rough skin soon becomes smooth. Containing hyaluronic acid and a bio-engineered strain of red marine algae, blood circulation in increased in a controlled manner which then stimulates cell turnover and allows deeper penetration of the product to the skins deeper layers. Hyaluronic acid is capable of absorbing 1000 times its own weight in water.
Now I know many might be wary of putting anything with the word ‘acid’ on their face, I was before trying this product! But did you know that Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally found in the body? A 70kg individual has approximately 15 grams in their body. Hyaluronic acid aids healing time as well as reducing bacteria on the skin.
After being released here in Australia, in the middle of the year, I picked up a few tubes, even before trying it because I had such high hopes for it. It hasn’t let me down.
Hydraluron comes in a 30ml tube and is of a clear gel consistency and only a small, pea size amount is all that is needed to use to cover a whole face. If you find that your face feels tacky or uncomfortable, then you have probably used too much. Note, Hydraluron is not a moisturiser, it’s in fact a serum that is to be applied before applying moisturiser (and applied after another serum in your skincare regime). As it is able to hold so much water, it acts like a ‘magnet’ to draw out the water from all the products you then apply on top of it, aiding deeper penetration of this water and therefore, your skin is able to stay hydrated for longer.
I’ve used this both morning and night as well as just applying it at night and both have provided great results. Upon application, the fragrance free gel melts effortlessly into the skin and blends well, almost instantly, it vanishes into the skin and you are left with no residue or feeling of it even being applied! The first noticeable difference is that the skins texture is instantly improved, it feels so smooth and soft, any roughness disappears and differences in skin texture are minimised and improved. Skin is also left with a plump and revitalised look and feel with a more radiant glow as dry or dehydrated skin can cause a look of dullness. However, skin is left feeling more plump than it looks (you wont find that it leaves your face puffy).
Overall, your face looks more awake and hydrated thanks to Hydraluron. As it is suitable for all skin types, it hasn’t caused me any breakouts or irritation, nor does it cause your face to look oily. I’ve found my moisturiser to apply much more smoothly as well as soaking in better. My makeup also seems to apply more easily and to a nicer finish since using Hydraluron.
What I will mention is that this product does take time to work. When you first begin to use this product, you may find that it offers effects such as smooth skin but it is a product aimed at boosting the skins hydration and and as such, effects such as improvements in skin texture, increased hydration and a more radiant glow to the skin come from using this product for a lengthier period of time. Over a period of approximately 6-8 weeks, you’ll find that your skin feels naturally more hydrated and has a better skin texture and look, even before daily application. I’ve also found that after applying this at night, when I wake up the next morning, my skin looks and feels more hydrated and healthier.
You may also find that you need to play around with when and what to use in conjunction with Hydraluron. My mum found that she wasn’t able to use Hydraluron with a moisturiser she was using as they didn’t work well together with her very sensitive skin. She then switched to another moisturiser and that combination worked much better.
