Get The Look: Shu Uemura Art Of Hair at Lan Yu MBFWA 2014

Hi everyone,

When I spotted the following image on my Instagram feed yesterday, I was in awe of how gorgeous the couture gowns by designer Lan Yu were! As more pictured were being posted, I was falling more and more in love with the desginer’s work as well as the beautiful hair and makeup that was used on the models for the demonstration (all the designs were showcased on either one of the 4 models (one being the gorgeous Jesinta Campbell) or on manikins).

The hair look was created by Shu Uemura Hair Director Raymond Roberston working with designer Lan Yu to create the natural and energetic with a stardust texture’ final result.

I am lucky enough to have been provided with the details on how to recreate this stunning hairstyle. I personally think that this look is absolutely gorgeous and a great alternative for the traditional updo, bun or chignon because of the incorporated texture. The results give an effortless, relaxed but elegant finish that can be combined with any beauty or fashion look and is perfect for a whole number of occasions. What’s great is that it’s also easy to achieve at home and its effect can be produced on different lengths of hair!

The hair needs to look haute couture all the time. She doesn’t get up and do her hair, she wakes up that way. It is effortlessly put up but still has an energy to it. The energy is created through building texture into the hair.” – Mark Rippon

Below is the finished look from the front, sides and back as showcased by the model.

Although I may have to substitute some of the products, I will definitely be giving this look a go the next time I have an event to go to. I find it a beautifully understated elegant hairdo and quite fresh as well. This was the perfect hairstyle to showcase and allow the stunning couture gowns to do all the talking.
