Brooke Shields is hardly a fashion or beauty icon MAC!
Essence has very clever marketing – I’m always interested in their new ranges, despite not really being a huuuuge fan of Essence.

It does look great! Unfortunately from the reviews I’ve seen, the quality isn’t the best but I love the concept of the palette because the colours are all set up to be used as quads, trios and and duos, making it so easy for people to use!

Disappointed to hear the pallette isn’t as great quality. Is it the pigment that’s the issue??
Another question you maybe able to help me with is..I’ve never had any eyeshadow issues with creasing until the past year. I’ve read many posts about using eye primer to avoid creating and that it happens due to oily lids? I wouldn’t have thought my eyelids were oily however I had used the same nude maybelline quad (suppose it’s been my HG shadows) for several years, replacing it as soon as I would start to see the pan (dozens over the years) however I’ve been unable to use the last one I bought as it just creases and have been using a diff one that still tends to crease within about two hours but not as noticeable as my favourite. Oily lids=Eye primer or just makeup quality? Thanks

From what I’ve heard, the shadows have some inconsistencies with pigmentation, longevity and application but it is definitely a good pick for a ‘drugstore’ eyeshadow palette.
Hmm, I think the quality of the shadow as well as whether or not you have oily eyelids would contribute to your issue. I personally have oily eyelids and I’ve been on the hunt for an effective eye primer as my eyeshadows crease on me within hours if I dont use a primer or if I use a primer that just doesn’t work for me. I’ve noticed that certain eyeshadows last better than others and I think that’s down to quality so it does impact how well it lasts on the eyes. Maybe Maybelline has changed the formula of the shadows and that’s why your last palette hasnt worked well?
From my experience, oily eyelids make all eyeshadows crease, no matter the brand, whether it’s MAC or Essence Cosmetics so I would suggest investing in an eyeshadow primer as your best bet! 🙂

Essence have had so many great collections recently and these look just as great! I know! I LOVE the color tattoos and seeing all the beautiful shades they have overseas is such a tease because we don’t seem to get them released here!

I’m a little confused lol…are the maybelline 24 hr leather pots are they eyeshadow or liner?? I thought they were new eyeliners however after reading the comments I’m now wondering if they are shadows??
I love their gel eyeliner and love it and thought what a great range of colours they are for eyeliners!!

They are cream eyeshadows like the original Color Tattoos or the Metal Color Tattoos except these Leather edition ones have a more matte finish! 🙂

I do like the sound of a matte collection!! Being a tad (!!) older than you apparently shimmery shadows are too young for me now, luckily I prefer and always use matte and only use a shimmery one to line every so often! I went to find them at my local Priceline while they have 50% off of maybelline ATM and they didn’t have any 😦 the SA didn’t know what I was taking about. They did have these other little pot ones but not named leather. Will keep looking tho as I love the colour options. Are the cream ones easy to blend? I’ve never tried any. I have one tatoo pot but am yet to try it. While Priceline has maybelline half price it’s the perfect time to stock up but also cheap enough to experiment. I ended up buying a purple and emerald colour kohl eyeliners, a jumbo size liner that has black one end and white the other (haven’t tried white tight lining yet!!) an eyebrow pencil and a charcoal gel eyeliner while the sale is on but the hunt for the leather pots continue!!

The leather collection hasnt launched in Australia as of yet unfortunately but fingers crossed it does! I really love the Color Tattoos, I own 9 of them and they work so beautifully – easy to apply and they blend out very well, especially if you use your finger to apply and blend because it warms up the product, as opposed to using a brush. I always own the Big Eyes Duo Liner with the white and black liner. I quite like them but I do wish that they were a little more softer to allow for easier application but it does work well nonetheless!

The Essence collections always look great and are quite affordable for people on a budget like me. Unfortunately the colors pay off, especially for the shadows is sometimes really disappointing. But I’m really excited to try out some of these products

I finally tried one of the maybelline tattoo eyeshadows!! It worked really well so wanted to say thanks for the info/recommendation as I would never have tried them (being a little sparkly) had it not have been for ur recommendation and thanks for the advice re eye primer.
I haven’t noticed any creasing with the tattoo colour yet!
Also I just realised that the Urban Decay pallete featured is a basics one, is that like the original basics one which only has matte colours in it??

No worries Helen! Which shade did you get? I own 9 of them and completely love them all, they wear well on the eyes, even on my oily eyelids too! The featured one in this post is the latest Basics which is the second one in the line. The original Basics palette and this one both feature only matte shades!

Hi again, I got four…too cool (which maybe a bit harsh on me?!) …barely branded…tough as taupe and inked in pink. My favourite so far is the inked in pink. The taupe one is a tad drier, not sure if it supposed to be? The rest seem to be the same consistency.
I’ve looked at both the urban decay basics and I do love the colours in the new one I think …think I like the first one better. A little warmer maybe? I’d really like one. And I had planned on not buying anything and waiting to get the UD one but coukdnt pass up the half price maybelliene! Ended up buying loads! Spent around $90 half price and had a serious case of buyers remorse lol as I realised I could’ve bought the UD basics1! Well $90 would’ve covered both UD basics! But I do have a couple of mascara stock ups and new eyeliners that I would never have bought full price. (Coloured ones) And ob the tattoo ones that I keep reading ur love for so I’m not going to spend well as long as I can lol and save up for the UD basics! One day, one day il have a fancy pallette 😉
