Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog!
My name is Ash, I’m 28 from Sydney and I’m addicted to all thing beauty. I started blogging a few years ago as a creative outlet away from my full time job as a TV/New Media Producer. I was always chatting with makeup artists on shoots for work and my love for all things beauty really grew from there. Once I started to delve into the online beauty community I was so impressed with how many amazingly talented people were out there giving their advice and how supportive everyone was of each other so I wanted to get involved. I never thought anyone would really read my stuff but it is a great outlet for my beauty passion. After blogging for a bit I also did a MUA course so I’m now doing makeup professionally too.
One thing you’ve learnt through blogging.
I’ve learnt so much it’s hard to pick one! I guess the main thing I have got from it is real satisfaction from hearing that a reader or Instagram follower picked up a product I recommended and loved it too. It get the same feeling when I do makeup for a wedding and the bride is so happy with how she looks or a someone for a special event. I love helping people feel good about themselves. Having said that, I’ve also got a lot of great advice from my readers and followers. The community is great!
Your guess at one of this year’s (2015) most popular makeup trends.
I think the 90’s trend that has started to emerge will continue – more brown tones and darker lip shades. I think we’ll see strong liner, maybe some smokey eyes using colours like purples and really natural, enhanced beauty looks. I’m hoping to see a move away from cut crease shadow looks, the “Kendall Jenner” lips and HD brows (MUA/YouTube Wayne Goss actually did a great video about HD brows and I agree. Sorry! You can watch it here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBcmS-ebnx8). Of course makeup is an expression of self and if you love that look on you then there’s nothing wrong with that but I personally prefer a less drag-queen like look for real life whereas Fashion/Editorial is a free for all!
The one beauty product you can’t live without.
One! Oh this is sooooo hard. If I had to pick just one I’d say a brown eyeliner because I’m going to cheat on this question a bit…. I have SUPER blonde lashes and eyebrows so mascara and a brow pencil are always a must for me, but if I had a brown eyeliner I could fill in my upper lash line, upper water line and smudge some through the lower lashes to give me some definition and also double up and use it to fill in my brows.
What takes up most of your time outside blogging?
My full time job in media, which at the moment is mainly focused around music, and Mr OPJ of course! ❤
Your celebrity crush.
Girl crush is without a doubt Blake Lively. I absolutely LOVE her style. Everything about her from her effortless hair to her clothes and flawless makeup looks. On the guys side Adam Levine is my male celeb crush. I love a tall, dark, talented man!
