Maybelline New York Express Remover Nail Polish Remover Pot – Review
Hi everyone,
Today I have a review of the Maybelline New York Express Remover Nail Polish Remover Pot. I picked this up a few weeks ago from Priceline when I went to have a look at their new nude line of nail polishes. I actually ended up not purchasing any of those polishes but picked this up instead as I’d never tried removing my nail polish in any other way than with some nail polish remover and a cotton pad and so I thought I would give this a go and see if it really did remove my nail polish quickly and effectively.
This product promises to remove nail polish in 1 dip with 3 easy steps:
- Dip
- Turn
- Close (the bottle)
The pot contains a foam sponge soaking in nail polish remover. The sponge is cut into two and in the middle, there’s an opening for you to dip your finger into the sponge. It’s at this stage that your turn/twist your finger or the bottle around, with the nail making contact with the sponge and therefore, effectively removing the nail polish.
It actually works! I found that it did take more than 1 turn to completely remove all the nail polish off of my nails but definitely no more than 4 – 5 seconds for each nail as promised! While it does remove really smooth glitter nail polishes (ones with very even, small particles), it does take a few more extra turns in the pot, as expected, to remove it. However, I wouldn’t recommend using it to remove any nail polish with a chucky or uneven texture as it does rip up the sponge, leaving it sticking onto your finger (though you can easily just brush it off). It also does take some more time to remove compared with a traditional nail polish.
The nail polish remover in the pot has a less pungent scent than other nail polish removers and almost leaves a perfume on the fingers after using it! I really like this aspect as I’m not a fan of strong scents such as those of nail polish removers. The acetone free formula didn’t leave my nails or fingers feeling overly dry but where the nails had grown from the cuticle and were no longer covered by the nail polish, there was a slight white cast after using this product. I rubbed it away or washed my hands after I had removed all the nail polish to remove this.
The pot design ensures that there won’t be any spills and I like that I’m able to top up the pot when it starts to dry up after many uses, simply by pouring in some liquid makeup remover. This is perfect for anyone to take with them if they’re travelling or really busy and need to remove their nail polish on the go. And for those who find removing nail polish a hassle, give this a go!
You can purchase the Maybelline New York Express Remover Nail Polish Remover Pot from Priceline for $9.95. It is currently down to $7.96 thanks to a 20% off promotion!

I got this at the 40% off sale, and was so surprised how good it is!!! I was wondering if it can be topped up, so glad to hear that it can be.

I’ve heard really good things about the Bourjois version, but these seem pretty cool for quick and effective polish removal. I’m always prone to knocking over an open bottle of polish remover!

I’ve seen the Bourjois one around the net as well! It works really well and yes, definitely reduces the risk of spilled bottles! 🙂

This looks like a really cool product! I’m curious to see whether there is any residue left on the sponge where the nail goes so it doesn’t affect removal of future polishes – does it just dissolve into the container?

I’m going to assume that it does dissolve in the container. After i remove one nails nail polish and move onto the next, there’s no residue or smudge on my finger from any prior nail polish so i think it does disappear into the sponge!

This product is so awesome! Its so much quicker for removing polish. I have found that glitter does tend to shred up the sponge though.

It does really speed things up! I know, that was sad to see so i’ll be using this for just plain nail polish from now on!
