The Parcel by Marie Claire Autumn 2016 Edition – Review
When The Parcel by Marie Claire lands on my doorstep, I’m usually very excited by its contents and cant wait to start trying it all. Unfortunately, for me, this Autumn Edition is quite disappointing which is sad because The Parcel has been on a real streak with their fabulous boxes.
Here’s what the Autumn Edition of The Parcel by Marie Claire holds:
- Estee Lauder New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum
- Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 125ml – FULL SIZE
- MOR Emporium Classics Triple Milled Soap in Blood Orange – FULL SIZE
- OPI Nail Lacquer – FULL SIZE
- CROP Natural Pure Macadamia Oil – FULL SIZE
- Gilded Cage Unleashed Lipstick – FULL SIZE
What I look for in a beauty subscription box is new and exciting brands/products, cult classics or products I wouldn’t necessary purchase regularly due to price! I feel as though except for the lipstick, nothing really jumps out as exciting and with only 6 products included this season, it’s in stark contrast with the Summer Edition. While 5 of the 6 products included were full size, I feel as though the box is a little empty, even though the monetary value is there.
As the Autumn Edition, the products included are described as being ‘…perfect for the cooler months ahead. Keep warm and get pampering’ but I feel as though the items included dont completely fit in with the brief. Perhaps it’s because The Parcel has really been amazing (bar one box) since the very beginning that I feel let down with the box.
I am so excited to see the Gilded Cage lipstick included this season as I’ve been testing out another lipstick shade as well as an eye shadow from this new brand and they are both absolutely beautiful in application, texture and pigmentation. You’ll definitely be hearing more about Gilded Cage in the future!
As much as I love this Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and like to see a new brand included in the box, in the form of the CROP Oil, I feel as though they’re not on par with products included in the boxes in the past as they are something most people would already have in their beauty regime or could easily pick up.
While the new Estee Lauder serum is a nice inclusion, I’ll be passing it onto my mum as I dont quite fit into the age bracket for the product. The other products are sadly quite repetitious, with MOR being included in 2 past boxes (1 soap and 1 body milk) while a nail polish has been included in 4 out of the 6 past boxes. This Autumn box means there has been 5 nail polishes included in 7 boxes (OPI featuring for the 3rd time).
Overall, it is a disappointing box to me, even with the monetary value being there. Hopefully they can lift their game for the next one.

Well I can understand your feelings hon – this is somewhat of a fizzer! The products are nice enough, but I agree, they’re a bit on the ordinary side. I’m loving the Ageless series – they’ve all been brilliant, but I wonder how long they can maintain the standard. Looking forward to more info from you on the Gilded Cage range xxx

Such a shame as they had been doing so well! I’ve seen the Ageless Parcel around and the contents looks fantastic! Will let you know when my Gilded Cage post goes live x

I always get excited to see the contents of The Parcel, but you’re right, it is a little bit of a let down for me too. I’m not much of a nail polish wearer, but I am impressed with the expensive lipstick, from a brand I haven’t heard about before. And I’m interested in the oil too. I still think these boxes are probably on top as far as local Aussie beauty boxes go.
Thanks for the review, your honest and clear writing is always appreciated.

Thank you for the kinds words! I’m always excited to spot new brands included in these types of boxes as they’re a great way to be introduced to a brand/product.
Overall, they are definitely still the front runner in terms of beauty subscription boxes! x

Great review lovely, very honest. I was actually super stoked with the parcel this time around! Loved the inclusion of the lipstick and nail polish. I think the Estee Lauder serum was nice but I also don’t quite fit the age bracket there. The fact that it was mostly full-size was nice too, feels like great value. I will absolutely get good use out of everything 🙂 Hope you enjoy the lipstick too! X

Thank you Bec! I really appreciate that they always try their best and include full sized products, I’m not a fan of sachets at all, haha! x
