The Parcel by Marie Claire Spring 2015 (Marie Claire 20th Birthday Special Anniversary) Edition – Review
If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you would know just how much I love The Parcel by Marie Claire! Since the very first box, I’ve absolutely been in love with this beauty subscription box because of the amazing value and the fabulous range of brands and products it includes.
To celebrate Marie Claire’s 20th Birthday, this Spring box is a Special Anniversary Edition and as described by The Parcel, includes ‘some great new buys and all-time favourites’.
Here’s what the Special Anniversary Edition of the box contained:
- John Freida Frizz Ease Smooth Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner – FULL SIZE
- Redwin Coconut Balm – FULL SIZE
- St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower
- MOR Rosa Noir Hand and Body Milk
- Estee Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge EDP
- Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum
- L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick – FULL SIZE
With 8 products included in the box, 4 were full size, 3 were what I would call deluxe sized samples and lastly, a small vial containing the perfume sample. Now I know this may be a bit controversial but I’m really on the fence about this box! While the value of the box definitely exceeds its cost price, the majority of the products dont excite me, perhaps because I’d hyped up this special edition box in my head and it just wasn’t what I had imagined it to be. I also feel as though the box is a bit empty.
Out of the 5 boxes that have been released, 3 have contained multiple John Freida products. I’ve tried quite a few products from the brand but haven’t been too wow-ed so I’d love to see some other hair care brands included in future boxes. Being a non tanner, I’ll be passing on the St Tropez product but I do really appreciate its inclusion as it is a brand new product receiving quite a lot of hype. I am however excited to try the Clinique Smart Custom Repair Serum as I’m a huge fan of the Clinique brand and the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick which I received in the shade Mon Jules is a stunning deep red shade which I think would look gorgeous on a night out.
In my eyes, which each box, The Parcel by Marie Claire had progressively gotten even better and better, with the last two boxes real standouts but I just feel as though this box has taken a step down and I wont be excitedly reaching for all these products to try. I’ve yet to receive my box but seeing this leaves me underwhelmed. Shampoo and conditioner as the main items? Kinda boring. Previous boxes have definitely been better with a better variety of products. I am however looking forward to the lippy!

I was going to get this box but only remembered when it was sold out. Looking at your post, I would probably be a bit underwhelmed as well.

It is a bit underwhelming but the previous ones have really been amazing so I hope they step up for the next box!

I totally agree – while it’s a good box, it’s not as good as their others. I’m SUPER excited to try the St Tropez in shower tan though. And if I get a good L’oreal lipstick colour I guess that’s a bonus. My box always comes weeks after they start sending though so I think i’ll be waiting a while!

I agree that this isn’t as good as previous The Parcel boxes. It’s still good value but I’m less excited about the shampoo, conditioner and tanning products also. I was excited about the Clinique product and I do love fragrances, so I love this first fragrance inclusion.

The value is definitely there so I dont regret the purchase but I do love the Clinique inclusion too!

I was expecting more from their 20th anniversary box!
The only things I will be using are the coconut balm, the mor hand cream and the in shower tanner to try it out. John Frieda products contain silicone which is bad for your hair and the Clinique products contain alcohol and artificial colors. So disappointing 😦

Same you wont be getting more use out of the products. Hopefully the next box will step up!

I guess there’s plus and minus to this box. Great for the full size products, but nothing as exciting as previous months I guess.

I was underwhelmed by the last box for autumn, and this one hasn’t really impressed me either – such a bummer! Much like you, the only exciting things to me were the L’Oreal lipstick (but I got a shade I will never wear) & the Clinique serum. I’ve barely touched the contents of my Autumn Edit box, and this will probably be the same 😦

It’s always a gamble with beauty boxes but I think The Parcel has been an amazing subscription box overall when compared to others. Shame we wont get much use from this box!
