The Parcel by Marie Claire Winter 2016 Edition – Review + Why I’m Not Re-Subscribing

I wasn’t expecting the Winter edition of The Parcel by Marie Claire to land on my doorstep today but I was very excited when it did! This season, the box is jam packed with 10 different products, covering hair care, skincare and cosmetics. However, I have decided not to renew my subscription to the box.

  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth Anti-Frizz Primer – FULL SIZE
  • Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm – FULL SIZE
  • Rituals Cosmetics Fortune Oil
  • Garnier Wake Up Cream – FULL SIZE
  • Klorane Shampoo with Quinine & Vitamin B
  • Colgate Optic White High Impact White
  • The Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate
  • Nivea Sensitive Caring Micellar Water – FULL SIZE
  • MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk
  • Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector (Bonus Product)

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you would know that I wasn’t too impressed with the last box as I found the inclusions repetitious, not fitting for the season and not too exciting. I’m happy to report that that isn’t so much the case this season!

As Winter has begun, the inclusions of a moisturiser, serum, lip balm, hand/body milk, shower oil and anti-frizz hair product are perfect as skin naturally becomes a little drier and we begin to use more heat on our hair (to blow dry hair in cold weather). The box also featured some new releases from Garnier, Nivea and Colgate which is always exciting.

Unfortunately, there has been a bit of a repetition with brands in this box. Perhaps it’s because I’m not a huge fan of the brand but I’d love to see other hair care brands included in future boxes as John Frieda has featured in 4 out of 8 boxes now. The MOR Rosa Noir Hand & Body Milk included this season also featured in the Spring 2015 Edition while another 2 boxes have included their soaps.

I’d love to see more inclusions from brands in a higher price bracket, like products from Benefit, Clinique, Estee Lauder and Lancome which we have seen in the past to balance out the more drugstore focused boxes.

After purchasing 2 yearly subscriptions to The Parcel by Marie Claire, this Winter box was the last in my subscription and I’ve decided not to renew my membership. For me, the boxes/product inclusions aren’t as attractive as they were at the start and I miss seeing products from more expensive brands as those are the products I wouldn’t necessarily pick up in store, making their inclusions both increase the value of the box as well as make me excited to try them.

With these last two boxes not living up to the standard I imagined (when I compared them to past boxes) and the repetition of brands, I’ll be giving the next few seasons a miss but will definitely keep an eye on the future boxes so I know when to re-subscribe!
